Double Ten Holiday in the Taiwan region of China: Travel and Payout

On the Thursday evening before October 10, a family sat around the dinner table, and only one thing was still undecided: over the holiday, should they head south first or north first? This is the Double Ten holiday in the Taiwan region of China.

Travel: the busiest days and the traffic controls

The region calls October 10 Double Ten Day, and this year it joins the weekend to form a long holiday; the freeway applies high-occupancy controls during the holiday, and the popular stretches and time slots bunch together. When the older generation picks a day to travel, they first look at “which day to set out and which direction to go”—the same logic as date selection in the almanac: avoid clashing days and choose days “suitable for travel, suitable for long journeys.”

“Waiting for the payment”: the progress of the universal cash payout

What weighs on people’s minds more is the universal cash payout of NT$10,000. The region’s finance authority set out a payout plan on October 8: if the legislature completes the third reading of the general budget before January 5, 2027, and the leader promulgates it before January 20, registration could open as early as January 25 and the first batch be credited on January 26, through five payout channels in all. In other words, whether this money can be got, and when it arrives, depends on the progress of the legislature and the administrative procedure; at present there is no open registration and no official application website.

The old rules of “before the money comes in”

Folk sayings include a few: don’t leave your wallet empty, and don’t stuff it with expired receipts; don’t hand someone a red envelope with nothing in it; and don’t pile clutter on the so-called “wealth position” at home. None of this has an official source; it is handed down by word of mouth. If you really want to use date selection, the site’s Huangli (Almanac) Date Selection can pick, from a range of dates, days suitable for travel and for moving into a home.

To sort out “which day to set off and which way to go” over the holiday, 占卜迷指’s process is: state the trouble clearly → the system recommends a method → it casts the chart, interprets it and exports the result.

The road is walked by you, and the day is chosen by you—don’t leave either to luck.
